The PEI Irving Oil Bantam AAA Hockey League originally a seven team league has undergone significant changes in the last year thus resulting in the creation of a four team demographically represented league. The Bantam AAA League has adapted a four man referee system.  Players will adapt and develop a better standard of play and discipline and improve their hockey skills having the fourth official on ice.

The league opener will be played at the O'Leary Community Sports Center on Friday October 24, 2014 at 8:00pm. The opener will feature the Prince County Warriors and  Mid-Isle Irving Oil Matrix .

The league recognized the league sponsor Irving Oil for its commitment to the youth of our region. Like many local and regional sponsors Irving Oil understands that supporting the youth in our communities is an investment in our future. Irving Oil has been a Sponsor of the Bantam AAA Hockey for over two decades and has motivated thousands of young Canadians to strive for excellence.

Mid-Isle Matrix is the only returning team from the original seven team Bantam AAA League. Mid-Isle have seven returning players who will lead by example this season. New players have a lot of talent to add to the line up as well. With only four teams in the league head coach Cory Parson expects his team to play hard every time they hit the ice.

The Prince County Warriors are compiled of players from West Prince and Summerside Hockey clubs. They have seven returning Bantam AAA player's. Head coach Craig Veinotte has big expectations for the warriors this year as this team's roster is made up from players from last years Pee Wee AAA Provincial Champs, Bantam AA Provincial Champs and the Bantam AAA League Champions.

Eastern Express Head coach Stephen Gordon has a deep roster with a balanced representation. The Eastern Express have a good mix of first and second year players that will provide a solid foundation. Eastern Express make their debut at home in Pownal on Saturday October 25th when they host the Central Attack.

Head coach Cory Gaudet says his team Central Attack will rely on a good defensive game. "We have strong goaltending, our defense is as good as any in the league. Up front we are big and fast so we will look to play a high tempo game and get pucks in deep and have a good forecheck".

All four teams will be battling for the provincial Championship and to represent PEI at the Irving Oil Challenge Cup being held this year April 9th to 12th in Nova Scotia.

We are encouraging hockey fans to get out and see some of the most competitive hockey on PEI. Admission prices are $3.00 for adults; free for seniors, students and preschoolers; with a family rate of $5.00.
